Al Jazeera video - Interview with Ken Robinson
Returning to a conversation in class several weeks ago, this interview with British author Ken Robinson speaks to the issues and challenges surrounding funding for arts education, as well as the need to provide stimulating environments to foster creative individuals.
For those who are not familiar with Ken Robinson (I actually wasn’t!), he writes about finding your passion and developing your creativity. I think it’s an apt corollary to what social innovation is all about, and Robinson’s writing reminds me of what we read in Juice.

“Robinson criticises schools for focusing on producing employees for the industrial era, but not creative thinkers for the information era.
As the financial crisis wreaks havoc on governmental budgets worldwide, he has argued against cutting funds for the arts in schools because the arts cultivate the talents that he sees as vital to humanity’s future economic prosperity.
In his latest book, The Element, Robinson discusses the elusive point where individual talents and passions meet for success, and the conditions that stifle our creativity.”
